A significant traffic bottleneck paralyzed Karachi’s vital artery, Shahrah e Faisal, on a Thursday morning due to the temporary closure of Baloch Colony Bridge following an incident involving an overturned oil tanker. The incident prompted swift actions by traffic police, who were compelled to redirect vehicles coming from Korangi towards Akhtar Colony. Meanwhile, traffic headed from Godam Chowrangi Korangi to Jam Sadiq Bridge was rerouted via a U-turn to alleviate congestion.

Adding to the chaos, traffic from Bohri Cut and Shaheed-e-Millat Road was diverted onto Sharea Faisal, exacerbating the gridlock along this critical thoroughfare. The repercussions were felt on adjacent routes such as Shahrah-e-Quaideen and Korangi Road, where traffic flow was also disrupted.

Motorists were urged to plan their journeys meticulously and brace for extended delays, particularly on Shahrah e Faisal, where sluggish traffic movement persisted. Authorities remained vigilant to minimize disruptions and uphold order across Karachi’s road network during the challenging situation.

Amidst these events, tragedy struck when an oil tanker careened onto a car near Baloch Colony pull, claiming the life of Asad, the occupant of the vehicle. Emergency responders swiftly mobilized to extract the car from beneath the tanker using specialized equipment, and Asad was swiftly transported to Jinnah Hospital, where his death was confirmed.

Fire officials confirmed the successful conclusion of the rescue operation, but highlighted the need for district authorities to oversee the transfer of oil from the overturned tanker before it could be safely removed from the scene.
