Iran’s supreme leader leads prayers at Raisi funeral

As of now, the acting president of Iran is Mohammad Mokhber, who was previously serving as the first vice president. Mokhber is temporarily in charge following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in the helicopter crash.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, remains the highest authority in the country, holding ultimate power over all branches of government and the military. The supreme leader has significant influence over both domestic and foreign policy, making Ayatollah Khamenei the most powerful figure in Iran.

Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas, who attended the funeral, is widely recognized as the overall leader of Hamas. The U.S. Department of State designated him as a terrorist in 2018 due to his involvement with the militant group, which the U.S. and several other countries have classified as a terrorist organization.
