MUMBAI: At least 14 people have died and dozens were injured after a huge billboard fell on them during a thunderstorm in India’s financial capital Mumbai, according to local authorities. The billboard collapsed onto houses and a petrol station near a busy road in the eastern suburb of Ghatkopar in Mumbai during gusty winds and heavy rain late on Monday. Many were trapped, leading to ongoing rescue efforts until early Tuesday. The thunderstorm caused traffic jams and disrupted operations at Mumbai’s airport, one of India’s busiest. According to Mumbai’s municipal corporation, at least 74 people were hospitalized with injuries, and 31 have since been discharged.
