Heavy Rains Predicted for Karachi from July 20

KARACHI: As hot weather continues to grip Karachi with intermittent showers, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rains in the metropolis after July 20.

A day earlier, the port city received heavy showers at noon in several areas including Saddar, II Chundrigar Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, and Gulistan-e-Johar. The rain brought the city to a halt, flooding streets and disrupting traffic.

Despite the prediction of hot and humid weather in the next 24 hours, the PMD forecasts rain and drizzle in several parts of the city today. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 35°C to 37°C, with humidity around 80%. Light winds are blowing from the west, and the sea breeze is likely to resume in the evening.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz noted that some areas might witness light rain or drizzle today. He mentioned that the low air pressure causing the rain in Karachi has shifted towards Oman. However, local heat may still lead to cloud formation, promising better weather for the next three to four days.
