In a tragic incident, senior journalist Khalil Jibran was killed by unidentified gunmen near his home in Landi Kotal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to police reports on Wednesday.
Jibran, associated with the private news channel Khyber News, was ambushed by unknown assailants on a motorcycle while heading towards his residence with his companion, Sajjad Advocate, as confirmed by District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber Salim Abbas.
DPO Abbas explained that the journalist’s car broke down near his house when the attackers surrounded him, forcibly removed him from the vehicle, and shot him. Jibran, who had also served as the president of the Landi Kotal Press Club, died instantly, while Sajjad sustained injuries. The perpetrators fled the scene immediately.
Jibran’s body was transported to a hospital in Landi Kotal for a post-mortem examination. The shooting occurred in the Mazreena area, close to the Landi Kotal Police Station.
