Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a reduction of Rs10.69 per unit in the price of electricity for the industrial sector.

According to the announcement, the new electricity rate for the industry and export sector has been set at Rs34.99 per unit.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) stated that Nepra had proposed this reduction in electricity prices. As a result of the Prime Minister’s package for the industrial sector, industries will see a reduction in costs amounting to more than Rs200 billion.

The PMO further explained that this package aims to enhance the competitiveness of Pakistani industries in the global market by lowering the cost of production for industrial and agricultural products. This initiative is expected to significantly boost exports, stimulate industrial activity, and create employment opportunities. The overall economy will benefit from increased industrial operations and higher export volumes.
