Government Ministries and Departments Listed as Defaulters in Unpaid Electricity Bills

Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has released a list of government ministries, organizations, and departments that owe billions of rupees in unpaid electricity bills.

Major Defaulters and Outstanding Amounts

According to Iesco, the top defaulting public sector institutions include:

  • Government of AJK: Rs 54,862 million
  • Ministry of Defence: Rs 5,295 million
  • Capital Development Authority (CDA): Rs 4,063 million
  • CDA (Pak Secretariat): Rs 1,065 million
  • CDA (Cabinet Secretariat): Rs 116 million
  • CDA (Chairman Senate): Rs 68 million
  • Cantt Board Chaklala: Rs 1,642 million
  • Cantt Board Rawalpindi: Rs 256 million
  • WASA: Rs 967 million
  • Ministry of Railways: Rs 295 million
  • Federal Government Hospitals: Rs 279 million
  • Pakistan PWD: Rs 260 million
  • Federal Police: Rs 251 million
  • TMA Rawal Town: Rs 190 million
  • TMA Murree: Rs 162 million
  • Ministry of Interior: Rs 143 million
  • Punjab Police: Rs 135 million
  • Parliament Lodges: Rs 118 million
  • Punjab Jail and Convict Settlement: Rs 116 million

Total Outstanding Amount

The cumulative outstanding amount owed by these government institutions is Rs 71,168 million.

Iesco’s Call to Action

Iesco’s administration has urged the heads of all defaulting institutions to settle their outstanding electricity bills. They have been asked to contact the relevant revenue office or the Commercial Directorate at Iesco Headquarters for any queries or further information.

Crackdown on Defaulters

Iesco’s crackdown on defaulters is in full swing as the company seeks to recover the substantial amounts owed to ensure uninterrupted service and financial stability.
